  Fight for independence...

For some, end of the Soviet Union is a "victory" of CIA who prepared Gorbachev for years and years and brought him to power which led to the collapse of USSR. For some others, it is the result of the fight for independence in most countries of USSR. Pretty much every country had millions of people outside in cold winter weather gathering for the meetings and yelling anti-communist statements. In return Soviet government were signing orders right and left to send troops to those countries in order to stop those protests. The result? Thousands of innocent people died and countries got independence.

Today, 20th of January, 16 years ago in 1990, Gorbachev sends Soviet Army to Baku, Azerbaijan in order to stop protests. Officially, 137 people dies, and thousands get injured. Millions, literally millions of people stay outside in the street for months and continues the protests. I remember those days as if they happened yesterday.

And today in 2006, millions of people in my country visits the graves of those people who died during this event. (We buried all of them in one location which is highest point of Baku and we call the place "Shehidler khiyabani") Today my nation is mourning...including me...

Allah olenlere rehmet etsin!!! (Let Allah sends all of them to Heaven!!!) Without their death, I would probably not be here, doing what I am doing now, living the way I am living now...

My first real AZERI night and RUSSIAN new Year

Here are some pictures from my first real Azeri night in NYC. It was the same day as orthodox new year for Russians. First, I went out for nice middle eastern dinner with my new amazing Azeri friend Samira. Later, Ulya (anoher Azeri girl) and Mischa (my Russian-Dutch brother) joined us. Then we joined Samira's roommates at super club called BED (they have beds instead of table-very origional idea) to celebrate Russian New Year . I met tons of new great people and club was full of beautiful ladies. Mischa's European style lady hunting didn't really work and I had to give him a good lecture about this topic on our way back. Anyways, night was amazing. The only disappointment I had was the realization of the fact that, I am getting pretty Americanized. Will I ever be able to live in Azerbaijan??? Ah... I have to and we will see...

PS: I also shaved my goatee in order to look younger...hehe

  Some great quotes
Here are some of my favorite quotes...

"Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it"
Henry David Thoreau

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
Mark Twain

“Love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired.”
Mark Twain

“For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“A fall from the third floor hurts as much as a fall from the hundredth. If I have to fall, may it be from a high place.”

  Dating according to signs???

Every human being has a filter in their brain...Filter which takes in all the data and information we collect and then accepts only those that makes sense...I call it "logic"...People who met me knows that, I really DO question everything. It is really hard for me to believe to the information that I get because it has to make a lot of sense to me...

Now, the topic I coming to is "horoscopes"... 21 years, I have never been interested in this topic...It never made sense to me... Until I had a chat about it with Dana in Miami like 2-3 months ago. She gave me a book and reading about Capricorn, I realized that, most of the stuff are really true about me. I am hardcore Capricorn...

But today... I did something funny (weird I mean...) I wrote down names of all the girls I liked in past 7 years. (imagine how bored I was) They were not too many anyways... And Thanks GOD I remember all of their birthdays. So, I started to read about their signs. Incredible!!!

I realized that in past 7 years I liked cancers, leos, sagittarius, geminis, libras and so on...It was funny because things about them on the book were mostly true...

Now, I am thinking about changing the way I approach to girls in the future. Something like:
"Hi, I am Farid. I am Capricorn"
"Hi, I am Jen. I am Leo"
"ah shit, sorry... We are not compatible...Have a great day"

LOL...Funny huh? Ah, at least I am not alone. Coach of French National football (soccer) team selects first 11 according to players' signs and so on... haha...

Basically, from now on...I will only look for Pisces, Taurus, Virgo, Scorpio to date... They are the most compatible ones to me...

Just kidding...

Here are some pictures from New Year's Eve.

The biggest change of the new year is: I wanted to leave USA, counting my days during 2005, now, I would want to stay a bit longer if I will have a chance. But we will see... it is not very important...
